Software as a Service (SaaS)
Software as a Service is a delivery model in which users access a provider-operated application running on cloud infrastructure.
Definition
In general ERP practice
Software as a Service is a delivery model in which users access a provider-operated application running on cloud infrastructure.
The provider operates the underlying infrastructure, while the customer uses the application under the agreed service terms. Customer responsibilities for permissions, data quality and business processes remain relevant.
In Odoo
When evaluating an Odoo hosting option, distinguish a provider-managed application service from renting a server or using a development hosting platform. Confirm the scope for custom modules, upgrades, backups and data export.
Practical example
A monthly subscription describes how a service is charged; it does not by itself establish the hosting model or the operational responsibilities included.
