ERP Selection Matrix

An ERP selection matrix compares candidate systems and implementation proposals against consistent business requirements and evidence.

Definition

In general ERP practice

An ERP selection matrix is a comparison table used to assess ERP candidates against the same requirements. It can record priority, proposed delivery method, demonstration results, outstanding questions, and associated costs.

A useful matrix separates a supplier’s claim from verified evidence. Standard functionality, configuration, third-party modules, and custom development should be recorded separately because their costs and maintenance implications differ.

In Odoo

An Odoo proposal can be evaluated with the same matrix as other ERP proposals. Ask the proposed team to demonstrate the required process in the intended configuration.

The matrix is an evaluation artifact, not a specific Odoo application or a guarantee of functional coverage.

What to check in an ERP project

  1. Common criteria

Use the same business requirements for each candidate.

  2. Evidence status

Separate demonstrated behavior from proposed development.

  3. Critical gaps

Review mandatory requirements individually rather than hiding them in an average score.
