ERP Evaluation

ERP evaluation checks whether a system and its implementation approach fit business requirements before the company commits to a project.

Definition

In general ERP practice

ERP evaluation is the structured assessment of an enterprise resource planning system against a company’s processes, organizational structure, reporting needs, costs, and delivery risks. It supports a selection decision before implementation begins.

The assessment should distinguish demonstrated standard capabilities from configuration, additional applications, proposed development, and unresolved requirements. Selecting a delivery team is part of evaluating whether the overall proposal can work.

In Odoo

When evaluating Odoo, use the company’s own business scenarios to assess the proposed applications and configuration. A demonstration of one module does not establish that an end-to-end process will work across all required companies and integrations.

Odoo Project can help organize evaluation work. The evaluation method and investment decision remain responsibilities of the customer and its stakeholders.

What to check in an ERP project

  1. Requirements

Define critical business outcomes before comparing products.

  2. Evidence

Record what has been demonstrated and what still requires a prototype or estimate.

  3. Decision

Compare functional fit, delivery capability, scope, cost, and remaining uncertainty together.
