Capacity Planning
Capacity planning compares the work required with the resources available over time.
Definition
In general ERP practice
Capacity planning compares the work required with the resources available over time. Resource calendars, throughput, parallel processing and downtime affect feasible output.
In Odoo
Odoo work centers define working hours, capacity, time efficiency and alternative resources for work-order scheduling. Capacity indicates units that can be processed in parallel; review setup time and real availability before interpreting nominal capacity as promised output.
Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP)
CRP converts planned and released production orders into the load required at work centers, using routing times, quantities and calendars. It compares that load with available capacity so planners can identify overloads and revise the plan. Capacity planning is the broader concept; CRP is its detailed application to production requirements.
