Production planning decides what quantities to manufacture and when, considering demand, inventory and supply constraints. It operates at a broader level than scheduling each machine operation.
In Odoo
Odoo Manufacturing combines BoMs, manufacturing orders, replenishment routes and the Master Production Schedule. MPS uses forecast demand and stock targets for suggestions, while work-center planning schedules operations; the two planning levels should not be conflated.
