You ask AI to improve an Odoo form, add a calculation or build a report. It produces the code, and you deploy the change.
Then an employee cannot save a document. A report makes the server unresponsive. You ask AI for another fix, but the business process still does not work.
The change may be small. Its effect on the business can be much larger.
When Odoo runs customer service, operations and accounting, a broken customization becomes a problem for everyone who depends on that workflow.
We have seen this happen in practice.
A French insurance company could not accept applications
One of our clients is an insurance company in France. Its offices use Odoo to serve customers, perform insurance calculations and maintain records, including accounting.
The client used AI to modify calculation logic in an application document. The aim was to make a specific insurance calculation more accurate and align it with legal requirements.
After the change, fields and recalculation logic on the French-language form prevented employees from saving the document and submitting it for processing.
For an employee, the situation was straightforward: a customer needed to submit an application, but the form would not work.
Across six offices, a code error had become an interruption to customer service.
What caused the failure?
Our review found syntax issues and outdated use of Odoo models that was incompatible with Odoo 17.
The generated code referred to models that worked differently in the client’s version. The form could no longer complete the operation employees needed.
Reproducing the problem was straightforward. Understanding the cause required checking the form, its calculations and the relevant Odoo models together.
How we resolved it
We made a targeted code correction and added comments explaining the changes for future development.
We also found that version management was poorly organized. There was no straightforward rollback path: reversing the changes would have required manual work recorded in a new commit.
After resolving the failure, we reviewed the repository, cleaned up branches and wrote instructions for AI about branch management. We adjusted deployment scripts to keep untested, unreviewed code out of production.
The immediate problem was the broken form. The wider problem was how changes reached the live system.
An inventory report made Odoo unavailable
In another client engagement, AI had created an inventory turnover report.
When a user opened it, the report attempted to calculate a large volume of product movements and related records immediately. One request to view a figure triggered extensive processing.
The resulting load overwhelmed the server and made Odoo unavailable.
The report was supposed to help employees understand stock performance. Instead, opening it prevented people from using the system.
What caused the overload?
The calculation approach required too much work at the moment the user requested the report.
Rather than reading prepared results, the system repeatedly processed a large history of underlying records. The problem extended beyond a slow report: the workload affected the server running Odoo.
How we resolved it
We introduced intermediate tables and calculated the required results in advance.
The report could then read those prepared results instead of recalculating the full history each time someone opened it.
The business question remained the same. We changed how the system produced the answer.
This is an important distinction: code can perform the requested calculation while still being unsuitable for the volume of data and the environment in which it runs.
Why these failures matter to the business
These two incidents had different technical causes, but the business consequence was similar: employees could not complete their work.
In the insurance company, staff could not save and submit applications. In the reporting case, a request for information made the wider system unavailable.
The cost of such an interruption includes more than the developer’s time:
- Employees wait or look for workarounds.
- Customer requests and operational tasks are delayed.
- Technical staff are pulled away from planned work.
- After recovery, the team still has to clear the accumulated backlog.
A small defect can therefore create a substantial operational problem.
The difficulty becomes greater when there is no team ready to investigate. Someone must understand the business requirement, inspect the code, identify the cause and decide how to change the system safely.
Another prompt may produce more code. It does not automatically establish which change caused the failure or whether the proposed correction fits the rest of Odoo.
What these cases show about AI development
The important question is whether the resulting change works in the client’s actual system.
Can an employee complete the document? Does the implementation fit the Odoo version? Can the report handle the available data without overwhelming the server? Can the team identify and reverse the deployed code?
These checks connect development to the business process.
A working release needs a clear requirement, review of the implementation, relevant testing and controlled deployment. AI-generated changes need that process too.

How ERPixel can help
ERPixel provides AI Customization Audit and Fix for companies experiencing problems with AI-built Odoo changes.
There are two ways to work with us.
One-time support for an urgent problem
This service addresses a specific incident: a broken production deployment, a blocked workflow, an overloaded server or changes your team cannot safely roll back.
We investigate the problem, explain our findings and propose the correction.
If your business processes have stopped and you sign a support agreement today, ERPixel will respond today. The repair timeline depends on what the investigation finds.
Ongoing Odoo support
Ongoing support adds continuing review and maintenance around your AI development.
We review the Git repository and proposed changes, check compatibility with the existing code, and perform technical code review. We also test agreed areas for security weaknesses and help clarify business requirements and AI prompts.
You work with a dedicated human team through a dedicated communication channel. Availability is 5/7 or 7/7 under the agreed contract and SLA.
The French insurance client now uses this approach. We review proposed releases, identify issues and recommend corrections before deployment.
How to begin—and what you receive
Contact ERPixel and explain:
- What is the employee trying to do?
- What happens instead?
- When did the problem start?
- What changed before it appeared?
“We cannot save and submit the application” is enough to start the conversation. You do not need to identify the faulty method yourself.
We agree the support terms and arrange access to the server and source-code repository.
Our main audit deliverable is a short Audit Report containing:
- Your problem: the situation as your team experiences it.
- Our findings: the faults we identified and their effect on the workflow.
- Proposed solutions: the changes we recommend for your approval.
You review the report and agree the recommended direction. We then prepare the repair scope and price for separate approval before implementation.
The work may involve correcting an error, changing a calculation approach, refactoring code to improve its structure, or replacing unnecessary custom logic.
We make changes in separate Git branches. Your technical team can review and accept our code before deployment. Clear version control keeps the changes traceable and allows our code to be rolled back when needed.
After the immediate problem is resolved, we can continue reviewing and supporting future releases.
If an AI change has stopped your business—or you want a review before the next deployment—talk to ERPixel.
