BI, ETL & Tableau · Case study
Data Warehouse, ETL and Tableau Reporting for a Diversified Holding
Enterprise BI case study: PostgreSQL DWH, Java ETL and Tableau consolidate SAP, Odoo, accounting and Excel data across a diversified holding.
Project context
Diversified holding
A diversified holding spanning retail and wholesale auto parts, vehicle services, finance and insurance needed consistent reporting across business units with different operating systems and data structures.
Management could not obtain one dependable view of revenue, margins, profitability, workforce and inventory without reconciling SAP, accounting software, Odoo and Excel data. The reporting solution had to standardize those sources before presenting them to decision-makers.

ERPixel solution
How the work was approached
ERPixel designed a centralized PostgreSQL data warehouse, implemented Java ETL applications and microservice-oriented data-processing components, and delivered Tableau dashboards over cleaned and standardized datasets. The program was divided into twelve focused reporting workstreams so each business unit could validate its metrics and outputs incrementally.
Implementation details
Architecture, workflows and reporting scope
Centralized data warehouse
PostgreSQL provides a shared analytical layer between operational applications and Tableau. Source-specific structures are cleaned and standardized before they reach management reports.
- SAP data
- Odoo data
- Accounting-system data
- Excel data
- Cross-business data standardization
Java ETL and data processing
Java applications and microservice-oriented processing components extract, transform and load data into the warehouse. This keeps reusable preparation logic outside individual dashboards.
- Source extraction and mapping
- Cleaning and normalization
- Transformation and consolidation
- Repeatable loading into PostgreSQL
Tableau reporting workstreams
The BI program was delivered as twelve focused projects. Incremental delivery allowed stakeholders to validate definitions and refine reporting around each operating area.
- Revenue, margin and profitability dashboards
- Workforce, turnover and compensation analysis
- Stock turnover and supply-chain metrics
- Restocking indicators and drill-down analysis
Transformation
Before and after
The operational change delivered through the project.
Before
- Business units reported from SAP, Odoo, accounting applications and Excel using different structures.
- Financial, HR and inventory analysis depended on repeated manual compilation and reconciliation.
- Leadership lacked one consistent analytical view across retail, wholesale, service and financial operations.
After
- A PostgreSQL DWH consolidates and standardizes source-system data.
- Java ETL pipelines prepare reusable analytical datasets for Tableau.
- Financial, HR, inventory and supply-chain dashboards support analysis across business units.
